I was wondering how PHP5.2 to 5.3 upgrade on the host will impact ExpressionEngine installs and the addons for both version1 and 2 of EE.
Also what to consider before doing it to prevent a disaster for the hosted EE sites?

Hi Azadeh,
Welcome to the forums 😊
I can’t speak for any third-party add-ons but we have seen no issues with running PHP5.3 and EE
If you are worried then replicate your site locally with PHP5.3 and test there.
Did you have a particular concern regarding the upgrade or what I mean is what is prompting you to ask, did you see somebody else with an issue?

Hi John,
Thank you for welcoming message:)
No actually I don’t have any particular concern regarding this in mind. I got notified from the host about this, and was asked to check the clients sites to see if the upgrade will have any impact on their installs. So I thought it doesn’t heart to ask so that we know ahead of time what to expect and then plan for it.
Thanks,
Azadeh

As far as EE 1.x is concerned, make sure you are on EE 1.7.1 instead of any 1.6.x version. Those would be the sites I’d worry the most about.
Same thing with EE 2.x, make sure you are on 2.1.3.
You could visit the third party dev’s support sites and query for 5.3 to see if they are reporting any issues.
Make sense?
