I am working on adding an Email opt in/out checkbox on my member profile templates with the instructions from the link below.

Enable radio buttons and checkboxes for custom member profile fields
    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Enable_radio_buttons_and_checkboxes_for_custom_member_profile_fields/

Everything worked out good, the only thing is, as the link above says:

“One downside of this hack is that once you have manually changed these field values in the database the fields will no longer appear on the ‘edit profile’ screen within the EE control panel. There’s for sure some way to fix this, I just haven’t looked into it yet, if you have time to, report your findings here!”

So now I am wondering has anyone figured out how to make a checkbox value appear in the ‘edit profile’ screen?

Or if anyone knows of a better way to go about this please let me know thanks.

    Hey Jesus_j,

Since hacks to the EE core aren’t officially supported, you may want to contact Nathan Pitman (the author of that wiki article) directly to see if he’s come up with a solution. Be aware that changes to the EE core will be overwritten when you perform an upgrade.

I’m also going to move this over to the community forum to see if anyone there might have some insight for you.
