Upgraded EE v.1.6.4 to 2.1.3, but some templates aren't showing up

    Hi there,

I finally upgraded my personal/business portfolio website from v 1.6.4 to v 2.1.3 (Build: 20110411). I walked through the update steps, and everything went swimmingly. Most of my site is online and working normally at: Watson-Design.com

All except the portfolio section. None of my templates under the “portfolio” template group are displaying, they all render as blank pages. Example: http://www.watson-design.com/index.php/portfolio

I’m stumped. The code in the templates looks fine, it all converted from the EE1 tags without issue. But no go! I even ran the server wizard just to be sure, and my hosting server passed with flying colors.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

    Thanks!

    mollyawatson,

Can you open up your index.php and turn on debugging

    $debug = 1;

The blank page may be a suppressed error so revisit that page with your debug on now

    Hi John,

Okay, I turned on debugging as you asked, and here’s the error message I’m getting:

Fatal error: Channel::parse_related_entries() [channel.parse-related-entries]: The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition "DB_Cache" of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ unserialize() gets called or provide a __autoload() function to load the class definition in /home/watsonde/public_html/studio-wd/expressionengine/modules/channel/mod.channel.php on line 447

Seems like some internal system issue, but I’m really not sure. I’ve never seen an error message like that before. Any ideas on how to resolve it?

Given your portfolio is most likely using its own channel there must be an issue with each entries “related entry” field that is generating the error.

Are you also able to edit & update/save your Portfolio entries or does this error as well ?

    Hi Cheif,

Brilliant! Thanks for the tip on the “related entry” field, I did have a related entry field for each entry in the Portfolio channel. I was able to edit and update my Portfolio entries without issue, however, given your idea I thought I should check to see if I could edit the Relationship field for my channel without an error.

So, I went to the Relationship custom field for my Portfolio channel, went to edit it, and saved it (without making any changes). And voila! My portfolio section is once again showing as normal on my site.

Awesome! Thanks, Cheif, for your tip. Problem solved! :D
