Video works on my moblog, I’ve ensured that it supports video of most formats.  One thing I’m asking is how can I check and/or change the file size limitation of the moblog.  If I manually upload through EE, I mean I can upload files as large as 30MB without breaking a sweat.  But, the moblog doesn’t seem to work like this.  I have a video that’s 13MB and it won’t accept the email into the system to parse it and display it.  It just sits out on the server.

So is there a way that I can change the size limitation in the moblog?  Thanks in advance.

EE imports these from the email server, so you may be running into PHP timeouts if it isn’t working.  When you use the “Check Moblog” link - what happens? Any errors?

Also, is your moblog doing any resizing or similar on import? You can find that in the preference settings for the moblog.

Lastly - please do let us know your version and build.

Going forward, I’d also recommend asking your host to potentially include PHP’s max execution time, and potentially make sure there is enough memory assigned.  Both of these could be factors in the videos not making it to their entries.

some good things to think about.  We’re using 1.6.9 and plan to upgrade soon.  But I’m not using any resizing or anything.  No errors, it does say that it’s checking it, and displays this message:

Moblog was successfully checked
Emails Retrieved:  0     Entries Added:  0     Attachments Uploaded:  0     Pings Sent:  0

So I contacted hostgator and of course they are of no help like usual which explains why we moved two of our accounts from them already.  I’ll report back and see if that’s something they can change.  I’ll probably have to call them vs dealing with India on the live chat.

Sorry Jeramiah - we are flying a bit blind here, something may be timing out.  You might also check if you have email validation on and make sure your emails meet that if so.

Did you make sure to check that the emails are really there in the box as well? I know, it sounds obvious, but I’m going to throw it out there just in case.  I believe smaller videos are working, so it sounds like a size issue, but want to double check.

I do think it’s a size issue because I have that email address set as an authorized email, and if I send images frmom that email it works fine.  I can verify that the email is sitting in the inbox of that moblog address.  I’ll call host gator today and see if they can change the max file size and max time out in php.

Ok so they increased the max file size to 64MB and they increased the max time out limit.  So I should have no problems.  I resent the email which has a 13MB video and it is still not being accepted into the system.  Same results as above.  I even tried multiple email addresses.  I can give you access to my system if you want to check the settings?  I appreciate any help! 😉

Your Moblog uses your Upload folders so check the settings there

Make sure that All File types is turned on and that there is no limitation in Maximum File Size

You might also be running into an email size limitation; email attachments have to be encoded from binary to text and that can add around 30% to the file size. 13MB is already on the large side for an attachment and for most servers. Unfortunately moblog may not be the appropriate tool for what you’re trying to do here. Were you able to get any further assistance from your host?

Well, other than setting max size and php time out limits there’s really nothing more that my host can do I think.  I think it’s just a limitation of the moblog module/EE.  I’m okay with that, it would be nice to send video to the website but I understand the limitations.  You can go ahead and close this out.
