'Insert Links' is gone?

Hi.  My blog entries have 40-50 images each.  In EE1 I upload multiple images via FTP, browse the directory from the ‘Upload Files’ screen, select all of the images and ‘Insert Links’ into the entry.  This has always been a quick way for me to post a lot of images.

I am toying with the idea of moving to EE2.  Actually I am being forced, as Facebook (HUGE marketing tool for my profession) is no longer reading my EE1 pages, no meta, no images, no fix.  Boo.  Now my test EE2 install, with the exact same template code is working with Facebook (of course o_O).

But as far as I can tell, ‘Insert Links’ is gone!  Is this correct?  If so, is there any add-on that recreates the functionality?  I have seen Channel Images, but I would really rather not reinvent the wheel or create big conditional entry templates for the different approaches.

Also, what is the logic behind not allowing for multiple files to be selected and quickly inserted?  Is this a work in progress or has it been determined that most users don’t work this way?

Any info would be great, thanks!

    Hi Jarred,

What you describe is something we’re actively working on. In the meantime, you might have a look at Matrix.

If you’d like, I can move this over to Community Help and see if there’s any advice for other add-ons. Just let me know.
