I have a client with a growing MSM site. Admins typically monitor 2-3 of the (now 7) sites. In other words, one member group might be Europe/Asia, another South America, another North America.
They’ve recently asked how they can better control times for webcasts on the sites so that the time and timezone is set properly no matter who is looking at the event. The issue, of course, is that one user can manage multiple timezones by the way we set up member groups.
A question was posed to see if we could set the time as normal and timezone from a list, so for example, someone in the MST could post or edit an event that starts at 1pm EST. Even though that’s technically 11am for them, they’d be statically setting this time and timezone. That way, no matter what timezone they’re working with, they just set it once and everyone sees the same thing.
I’m scratching my head a little bit on this one. If we run it through the start/end date picker I’m worried we’ll have issues for end users. I haven’t attempted setting timezones in the past, either. Is there a best approach to this scenario?
