    Hi there

If I use the CP password reset function the email with a link is generated and sent but on visiting that link the login page is shown but no message is shown and no further email with a new password is sent.

    The link sent is thus:
    http://domain.com/system/?D=cp&C=login&M=reset_password&id=BIrUG4BY

I have User installed and the reset functionality of that works fine so I don’t know if there’s a conflict there? Or maybe with another add-on?

    Any ideas greatly appreciated

    David

    Hi, David.

There could be several problems with what you’re doing.

    Things to try:

Rename any .htaccess file you are using. Put back index.php.

    If that doesn’t help:

Disable all extensions globally. See: HowTo Disable Extensions via the Control Panel

    If that doesn’t help:

    Uninstall User.

If that doesn’t help, we’ll keep troubleshooting.

If uninstalling User works, check with the Solspace folks.

    Does that help?

    Hi Sue

Bizarrely with my local dev version of the site the password reset works fine and the live production site is an exact duplicate. If it wasn’t working on my local version then I would start to go through your suggestions to narrow it down. As it does work locally I really can’t start disabling stuff on the production site as it’s live and in use.

The only difference between the two versions is my local is XAMPP on Windows whereas the production site is Apache on a Linux box. Both sites have the same htaccess and both have index.php removed.

    Any further ideas?

    David,

Sounds like there is definitely a difference between the two. I’d start with disabling .htaccess and setting ‘index.php’ back in General Configuration to rule that out. The site will continue to function albeit with index.php in the URL while you’re testing.

Thanks for your thoughts here Brandon however the client has decided it’s not important enough to warrant investigation time (ie extra cost) to pursue it further. If it becomes a problem then I’ll try your suggestions.

    Cheers
