Hi all,

working on a server with EE 1.6.9 and MSM installed. Was part way through process of adding an additional MSM site to EE yesterday. Had to leave it be to attend to family matters. And now I can’t login.

entering user and password then clicking on submit simply nets a page refresh after a roughly 10 second delay, clearing out both the user/pass fields.

Have reset password. which kind of worked, and may provide a clue to the problem

Note that it indicates the << newsite >> in the generated url sent via email.

in order to make reset work I substituted correct path to index.php on default site

Verified pass ok by logging in via MarsEdit’s blog posting. Works a charm outside of EE.

Still can’t login though control panel on default site. Behaviour same as pre reset.
As indicated above, this looks much like a silent fail. page reloads and fields are cleared.

How do I go about fixing this? How do I troubleshoot?

(I do have independent access to the mySQL DB with the EE data.)

What version and build of EE are you using?
Is it login to the default site that is failing or have you masked login tot he second site and that is failing?

What browser have you tried in?
Have you tried clearing your browser’s cache and cookies?

Also try adding this to your config.php

$config['admin_session_type'] = "s";
$config['cookie_domain'] = "";
$config['cookie_path'] = "";
$config['cookie_prefix'] = "";

ach it’s sorted for now.

The config file had been rewritten by EE.  The cp_url was set to newsite and not default.
Not sure how that happened as I was not editing default site but new site…

have returned cp_url to correct setting all ok

EE version is 1.6.9 build 20100805
MSM version is 1.1 build 20100805
