This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I’m getting this PHP error (twice) after I register a new member…

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Notice
    Message: Undefined index: 8
    Filename: members/view_members.php
    Line Number: 77

and I’m getting this PHP error (4 times) when I login as a member and go to publish a new entry….

    A PHP Error was encountered
    Severity: Warning
Message: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given
    Filename: cp/content_publish.php
    Line Number: 2122

neither error is prohibiting me from posting a new entry and I don’t see the error when I post an entry logged in as a super admin.

    Hi RikBell,

The first error may have to do with this issue:

    http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/171403/

The one that caught my eye though was your second one, as it reminded me of this bug that has a patch you may use:

    https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/14902/#10104

Hope one or both of these might help you get a little closer to resolving your issues.

    Hi RikBell,

Is it possible that you might have incorrectly formed members for your site? Are any of the members in the View Members list missing core data? Can you log in as Super Admin and post entries without seeing any errors?

    Cheers

    Greg

@Kurt, thanks very much for the help.

The first error occurs when I am logged in as super admin when I register a new memeber.  The second error occurs when I login to the CP as the member I just registered.

    Hey Rik,

Let’s start with the first error. You were on 2.1.3, correct? Go ahead and delete your themes/cp_themes folder, then replace it with the latest from the 2.1.3 download package. Any change?

Replaced cp_themes folder. No change.  Same PHP error shows up under “search members”.

    Hey Rik,

It looks like there are some (7) members in the exp_members table with a group id of 8, but that group doesn’t exist any longer. Are you able to remove those members? That should clear up the first error.

Once again I learn something new!  Life is wonderful.

Orphaned Members removed and PHP errors are gone.

    Thank you.

Cool! Thanks for your patience on this, Rik. Now would be a good time to make a full backup of your files and database, then you can lose those old system and theme folders. Going ahead and closing this, but you know the drill!  😊
