Hi. I just updated a site from 1.6.8 to 1.7.1. The Control Panel looks fine, but at the top of each page on the live site I have a repeated error appearing:

Warning: Wrong parameter count for preg_replace() in /home/gillyhuberart/www/*system*/core/core.regex.php on line 919

Does anyone know what this is? I’m afraid I don’t have much php knowledge.

    Thanks

    Hi Mosaik,

What version of PHP is your server running?

Hmmm, good question. I can’t seem to find that information anywhere on the current host’s website. However, I’m upgrading to 1.7.1 because I’m moving the site to EngineHosting. Maybe I should try moving the site across and find out if it works, seeing as everything else seems to be fine?

    Hi Mosaik,

In your CP go to Admin > Utilities > PHP Info you should see the PHP version at the top of the page.

    Cheers

    Hi Mosaik,

Yep, unfortunately, that’s a bug that means anything less than PHP 5.1 will generate this error. I have submitted a bug report for this issue. If you can upgrade your local site to test then please do so. If not, then moving the site to EH should be okay.

    Cheers

    Greg

Oh, okay. I checked the online 1.x User Guide before updating and it says that the requirements are PHP version 4.1 or newer. So that’s not correct. Hopefully I can get the site running on the new server. I’ll let you know if I have any problems. Thanks for your help. 😊

Yeah the docs are correct but it looks like a PHP5 parameter made it into EE1.7.1 hence Greg’s bug report to alert the devs

Let us know if you have any issue on the new server

Ah, thanks for the clarification John. I’ve just migrated the site and, after a couple of rookie mistakes, everything appears to be running smoothly without any PHP errors. Once again, I don’t know what I’d do without you all! Cheers.

Glad to hear, Mosaik! We are actively working on a fix for this bug, so I’ll go ahead and close this. Thanks all.
