If I create a new Category via Administration > Category Management > Create a New Category a Category URL Title gets auto entered as I type, just like when I create a new Entry. So far, so good.

But if I create a new Category in the ui-widget-overlay via Publish/Edit mode (the normal mode offered to my clients) no Category URL Title gets auto entered as I type. Presumably this is because the JS function doesn’t handle that context?

If I click Submit, the Category URL Title is automatically created at that point. In other words, the typical user gets no visibility of the Category URL Title that will be created until after it exists.

Can you confirm that this is the EllisLab expected behaviour?

Can you replicate this problem on multiple browsers, or is it just on one?

What if you reduce the template down to just the area you want to edit, does the problem still happen?

I think that Jonathan is talking about when you publish / edit an entry and try to create / assign categories to the entry Sue.

Just to say that the auto url_title creation works fine for both a new entry and editing an entry in 2.1.4 when using the overlay mode.

What version of ExpressionEngine are you seeing this happen in?

Yes, I can replicate this in 2.1.3 build 20110411. It’s not an issue in EE 2.1.4 beta.

I’m using Version 2.1.3 Build 20101220. Good to know it’s going to be sorted when 2.1.4 becomes official.
