    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me get my head around some logic for my EE system.

I have a site that I am building at the moment for my course (im a student) that will likely have many members contributing and editing content.  The members themselves all fit into no more than 2 of 4 categories (depending on their chosen subject area).  I am trying to find a way to give them some kind of standalone publish page where they can log in and publish their own projects.

It would really be great to be able to specify some defaults for their published content based on who is logged in (to try and thwart mistakes).  I will know their name, the year they started the course and their subject focus based on the information in a separate channel (that I will create manually).  Based on this, I was hoping to show them just the other fields that needed to be tended to and upon publish of a post, append the info I know about them based on their member information.

Can anyone think of a way to set this up?  I currently have a channel for “People”, and a channel for “Projects”.  The subject area is current set up as categories in the Projects channel (which leave room for error) and I currently have a field in the Projects panel allowing the member to choose their name from a pre-populated list (which also leaves room for error).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hi, ktz - welcome to our community!

For the stand-alone entry, check out SafeCracker

You should be able to use some conditionals in that form to change who sees what.  It will take some playing with and customizing when you build out the template.  You can also pass their member information into hidden form fields to achieve that part of your goal.

Does that get you moving toward a solution?  Since this is a brainstorming question, we may end up moving it down to the CodeShare Corner for more discussion as well.

    Thanks!
