Hi, I’ll try to make it as short as possible.
EE 2.1.3 build 20101220, MSM, Channel Images 4.

    Current problems:
    1. The Server Wizard does not recognize MySQL version = database connection problem.

    2. Wrong urls in CP to images: system path/{site_url}/images/... = No thumbnails showing in CP nor File Manager.

On another site everything’s fine. Difference between sites is Server API:
OK = Unix, Apache 2.0 Handler, PHP 5.2.14, MySQL 5.0.67, PHP memory 128M, not using Zend Optimizer
Not OK = Linux, CGI/FastCGI, PHP 5.2.17, MySQL 5.1.49, PHP memory 128M, using Zend Optimizer (cannot be turned off)
I am using the {site_url} tag in upload prefs. on both sites, both support GD, GD2 etc, file permissions identical.

Webhost is addressing the issues, but what do you think might be the troublemaker? And might this have to do with the issues below? - or might I have missed something in the set-up?

Recently solved problems on same install
    1. Got Error 500 upon upload of 10+ photos using Channel Images (see thread). Solved by turning off mod_security.
    2. I’ve had a lot of updating problems. Solved by Ellis Lab.

    Thanks,
    K

    Krake,

    1. The Server Wizard does not recognize MySQL version = database connection problem.

What does the wizard say exactly? Did it mention that it had no MySQL support in PHP?

    2. Wrong urls in CP to images: system path/{site_url}/images/... = No thumbnails showing in CP nor File Manager.

Remove the {site_url} tag from your file upload preferences please
Just add full server path to upload directory
What are the file permissions on your images folder?
Had a_thumbs folder been created in there?
Are there any images inside it?

    John Henry, thanks.

Remove the {site_url} tag from your file upload preferences please.

Solved the thumbnail problems and I can now use File Manager.

The wizard, however, does still not recognize the MySQL version.

What does the wizard say exactly?

It says: MySQL (Version 4.1+) support in PHP: required / No. Please, see Screen shot attached.

You can close the case - but do check out the codeigniter / Zend Optimizer thing, I don’t know if that might be the wizard issue and therefore should be mentioned somewhere to avoid frustration among the users.

Thanks again - I’ll never use {site_url} again in image paths…

Hi, Kath. That is kind of weird. But once you fixed the paths, does everything else work out OK?

Hi Sue, it’s very weird. So far it seems that everything’s fine now. If not, I’ll post a new topic.

I only changed {site_url} to http://domain.com and that did it. My full server paths have been fine from the start. Anyway, I thaught that we’d be able to use the siteurl tag almost anywhere, but it seems that in upload prefs it’s better to use the actual site url.

I’m currently updating to latest build and will run the wizard again to see if the MySQL issue is still present.

    Will keep you posted!

    Hi,

Updating to latest build 20110411 does not solve the problem with the EE Server Wizard not recognizing MySQL version 5+ on some server set-ups, but wrongly reporting that there is no MySQL support at all.

Do let me know if you need any more info (server access and php info for example) for you to troubleshoot the issue/bug.

    Hi Kath,

Go ahead and PM me a link to a simple PHP Info file on your server, and I’ll take a look. Thanks.

On its way. I sent you two links, one where wizard works ok and one not ok.

Thanks Kath. If you compare the MySQL sections they are quite different implementations. Basically the Server Wizard isn’t able to connect to MySQL in the “standard” way on the other machine, and I’m not sure if we’ll be able to detect every other case (or necessarily want to). Nevertheless, we’ll be on the lookout for similar setups. Thanks for that.

Going ahead and closing but please don’t hesitate to open a new thread!
