CP Issues with Firefox 4.0

The main menu items no longer work in the CP after I upgraded to Firefox 4.0.  It also does not work on Chrome, but does work in Safari and IE8/IE.  When clicking a menu item, the submenu does not appear.  This was reported to me by my client, so it is happening on multiple machines.

The version number is 2.0.2pb01.  I know someone is going to recommend I upgrade to 2.1.3, but that is such a painful and error prone process that I would really want to avoid having to do it, especially since I will have to do it gratis.

Note also that I have many other EE installations, mostly 2.1.2 and 2.1.3.  Although they work OK, I have noticed flaky behavior with the menus since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 - in this case, when I click a menu item and then move my cursor to the submenu it will disappear, almost as if it does not recognize focus.  Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn’t.

Never had an issue (except IE but u know I was going to say that), we use http://expressionengine-addons.com/nsm-morphine-cp-theme (V1, V2 requires 2.1.3) on every install, no problem at all. Could be an easy fix 😊

    Thanks for the assist, Cheif.

Roi, the dev team is aware of the issues in Firefox, and I know there are some fixes for versions of EE after 2.1.3.

Does this sound like the issue?

Thanks, Sue.  The bug report sounds like the problem I am having with my 2.1.3 installs.  I made the change to the global css file and that sorted it out for me.  However, the 2.0.x install is still not working - the submenu does not appear at all, even after the fix.  Again, it does work with Safari and IE (imagine IE not being the culprit for a change!), but not in FF4 or Chrome 10.0.648.204

I was planning on upgrading this site when 2.1.4 finally gets released.  Any word on when that might happen?

Hi, Roi. Unfortunately I don’t have a firm release date for a non-beta version of EE2.1.4.

As far as the 2.0.x version goes, about the only advice I have to offer on that is to do the update locally to see if it causes you less grief. It is kind of weird that IE works. 😊
