    Hello,

I am having an issue in my EE control panel. This doesn’t happen ALL the time, but it happens enough where I felt I should ask the professionals.

The problem is when I submit any changes in the control panel, whether it’s editing an entry, editing some admin settings, or just clicking the Search button when filtering entries, I get redirected to the control panel home page without any of the changes being saved.

I’ve read several forum posts that are similar but not quite the same and have tried the following:

    - deleting cookies, restarting browser, and trying again (this works sometimes)
    - entering my domain in the Cookie Domain settings
    - clearing all caches (don’t think this really helped)
    - changed Control Panel Session Type to Cookies Only

Another side note is that this only happens when I access my CP from work, so it may be a firewall issue. But logging in to any other site and submitting changes doesn’t seem to cause any problems. If it is a firewall issue, I’m curious as to why it would only affect my site’s CP.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi, bonbonerie.

If this is only happening from your work, it may be a firewall issue. Your best bet is to see if you can login from a third location.. that would narrow it down.

What is Require IP Address and User Agent for Login? set to? (Security and Session Preferences)

Set that to No and see if it makes a difference for you.

    Hi Sue,

The Require IP Address and User Agent for Login setting was set to ‘Yes’. I have changed it to ‘No’ like you suggested and will let you know if it helped at all. Thank you for your assistance.

After changing the aforementioned IP Address setting to ‘No,’ I’m still experiencing the redirect to the CP home page, but not quite as often as before. So I guess it helped a little?

I’m not quite sure what else I could try, especially since I have no control over my employer’s firewall.

    bonbonerie,

Does this happen with all browsers? You tried everything I would have suggested, so perhaps the firewall simply doesn’t like something in the URL query string. I’m not sure of a workaround for that, short of setting up a stand-alone entry form for yourself, which might be an option.

    Hi Brandon,

Sadly, at work I have the option of using FF 3.6 (Win) or IE6 and you can imagine which one I prefer. I tried logging into the CP with IE6, but IE6 renders the new EE2 interface so poorly, it’s nearly impossible to make changes. So I guess I can’t really compare browsers. The good news is that per Sue’s suggestion of changing the Require IP Address preference, the redirect to the CP home page doesn’t happen as often. If the problem continues, I will try your suggestion of setting up an SAEF. Thanks for all the help. You can mark this thread as resolved.
