When installing EE on my web domain I use the EE installation Wizard by pointing my browser to the EE system folder.  How do I point to the EE system folder to install EE locally using MAMP?

If your document root is your Sites folder you can use /Users/your-user-name/Sites/sitename/system/ .

If your root is inside the MAMP application, depending if you have installed it in Applications or /Users/your-user-name/Applications/

you can use respectively /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/sitename/system/ or /Users/your-user-name/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/sitename/system/ .

If you use MAMP Pro with virtual hostings the same above applies but you’ll have something like Sites/sitename/htdocs/system/ .

I strongly suggest you install MAMP in /Users/username/Application and not in /Applications, this way if you update or reinstall the OS you won’t lose your configurations. If you can afford it I also suggest to buy MAMP Pro and using virtualhosts, this give you a local enviroment similar to a remote one and can help for deployments and version control.
