My client just noticed that if they load a previous version of their content the Safecracker file field loses its file association. We’re running EE 2.1.3 and the latest versions of all our addons. I should mention that the Safecracker field is in a Matrix cell.

As the site is going live in just a few days I don’t have the opportunity to test this outside of a Matrix field, but wanted to see if this is a known problem or reproducible for anyone else. I’ve searched around and haven’t found anything, but you never know 😊

Posting here before filing as a bug.

    Jonathan,

The other day I created a SC and EE set up using Matrix with a Safecracker file field and just went back and tested again and can find no issue with it

Can you double check your Upload destination paths. If you view the source of your page can you see any reference to a file?

Are your thumbs being created in your upload folder?

    Hey John Henry,

Just to make sure, are you testing with loading a previous version of that particular entry?

I can upload just fine and I do see the thumbnails and all that. It works great publishing. It’s when I load a previous version of the entry that I lose the file association. And by lose I mean it’s asking me for a new file all together (see attached) as if I never uploaded anything in the first place.

    Hopefully that makes sense 😊

    Hi, Johnathan.

Are you using a regular File field, or a SafeCracker File field?

    Hey Sue,

Yes it’s a SafeCracker File field.

Are they editing inside the Control Panel, or via SafeCracker?

Control Panel. I don’t have SafeCracker installed; just the file field.

It’s a bug. I can replicate this even if the SC file field isn’t in the Matrix fieldtype.

I filed a bug report on your behalf: https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/15642/

Well at least I’m not crazy 😊 Thanks for posting the bug, too. Hopefully it’ll get fixed soon!

Thanks Jonathan. Since this is reported I’ll close this thread, but keep an eye on the report for updates.
