I used to be excited and eager about every EE build and couldn’t wait to find out what was fixed, what was new, and get sites upgraded.

Now I dread EE upgrades. It’s the fear of another long day with head scratching and headaches. Not necessarily in that order.

Glad to see the betas show up as part of the upgrade process. That’s a good move.

I’d have to agree, I’m sticking with EE2.1.1. The amount of hiccups I’m seeing with .2 &.3 just doesnt make sense to make the jump.

Would like to imagine all this is due in large to the quantum shift from 1.6 > 2 and that given some more time the platform will mature and the eco-system will have a solid foundation to refine their bits on.

Will most likely wait until beta (.4) is out in the wild for a good few months before I look at upgrading. I figure unless there are some serious security holes then we’ll leave well enough alone.

WordPress hit v. 3.1.1 yesterday. I updated nine sites in less than five minutes. It took as much time to login as to perform the update. With the last few versions of EE, I’m forced to run the update on MAMP first, quadruple check my growing list of identified bugs and quirks, then prepare a unique upload for each EE site, before beginning the upgrade.

This is not as much fun as it used to be.

WordPress has made it ridiculously easy to upgrade.  Makes life easier for the WP sites I manage.  Hope we can get something similar in EE in the future.

I’ve been running the latest build of 2.1.3 without issue.

Fear - still running 1.7 and will continue to do so even though I purchased 2.x
When EL moves these forums to 2, I will start thinking about upgrading my forums…...

It usually pays to be way behind the curve…...I have seen this be a truism from 1995 on, when some sites were upgrading to use the newest version of netscape…as if they assumed everyone upgraded their browsers immediately!

If an old tool works, use it…...mostly trouble comes from changing too soon.
