Can EE do this? — MySpace-style general comments, i.e. not responses to an individual entry?

    Hi there

I’ve been asked to develop a site that is essentially a feature-rich blog. Each blogger will have their own ‘homepage’, with latest blog entries, photos, videos, etc — all straightforward using channels.

However, one of the features the designers would like is a way for visitors to leave short messages for the blogger. Not comments in the traditional sense, i.e. responses to an individual article — more like the kind of thing on the old mySpace pages where arbitrary comments/messages can be left.

    Is this possible using EE?

    SAEF / Safe Cracker
or comments on a faked or blank entry.

SAEF would be the best and, most flexible method i expect.

    Thanks for the assist, Nevsie.

Or you could use something like Solspace’s Freeform. Any or all of the above would work. What I used to do was make a channel for each “author” and allow comments on that entry. A bit more labor intensive, but it depends on how many bloggers there are.
