This is happening to me too, I read online somewhere to remove ‘index.php’ from the “Name of your site’s index page” preference under admin > general configuration.  This removed index.php from my urls but it didn’t help with my content showing up - only the homepage works and the rest of the links get you a broken link error.

The host says there haven’t been any upgrades to the server lately and that my database appears to be running fine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

all read more links are broken, sidebar links too

Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, Jason!

Since you’re new to the EE forums, have you seen EEWiki:// How to Post a Support Request?

Can you tell us which version/build of EE2.x you’re using? See EEWiki:// HowTo Determine My EE Version

Removing index.php via .htaccess is something we don’t directly support. Let’s have you put index.php back and get rid of the url rewriting in your .htaccess file.

Sue, thanks for the tips - here is my info:
    Freelancer v2.1.0
    Build:  20100810

Just to clarify: I didn’t remove index.php through .htaccess, just from the general configuration page.  I’ve put it back now, though.

I also tried the suggestions in this thread, but they didn’t do anything for me (so I returned everything to is original setting). I also tried contacting my host to see if they were correctly supporting the path_info server variable as that thread suggests, and they said I could change it to whatever I wanted to using .htaccess, but they don’t have any settings for it in their apache configuration.

As you can see, I don’t have hardly anything on the site (I’m just working through the EE Quick Start Guide book) so I’m not opposed to reinstalling EE and starting over - but I’m just very confused why it suddenly stopped working since I haven’t touched the site in over a month.

Thanks for your quick response - I appreciate it.

One more thing - from my ee control panel, the view site button on the top right is pointing to this url:

    http://www.jasonwestdesign.com/index.php?URL=http://www.jasonwestdesign.com/index.php

Update: I changed my URI protocol in my config.php file to ORIG_PATH_INFO (from AUTO) and this seems to have fixed the read story links on the home page - but the article pages all have broken images and the category links don’t seem to do anything. This also fixed my view site button in the control panel.

    Jason,

give all your template images a preceding forward slash and they will work for you

    /img/news-article-image.png

Also try forcing query strings in your Output and Debugging preferences

What is in this template at the moment? news_articles/page
