    Hi

A really weird one that I’ve never seen before…

    I have EE 2.1.3 build 20101220

Logged in as the Administrator and when I go to edit a channel entry I created previously, I get the error display:

    An Error Was Encountered
You are not authorized to access this page

Also, when viewing the front end of the site, all of the images that have been uploaded through the File Manager do not display. I’m using a plugin that resizes images on the fly (imgsizer) so I checked the permissions on the directory this writes to and found that these were incorrect. Fixing this enabled the images to show.

However I now get a blank page when viewing one of my templates - and no error with error reporting set to 1 in my index.php file.

So thoroughly confused really! All I’ve done is transfer up the files from a local test site that works fine, copy the database and change the paths to reflect the new server environment, and this has always worked fine in the past.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi Russ,

Please make sure that you have cleared all caches both in your browser and through the CP at Tools > Data > Clear Caching. Have you run EE on this particular server before? If not, please do run the Server Wizard just to make sure that the server environment is suitable. Does your CP work correctly in all respects otherwise?

    Cheers

    Hi Greg

This morning the unauth errors have gone away - now idea why as I hadn’t cleared the caches as you suggested.

Everything checks out with the wizard and it seems like the blank page is an Apache issue as when testing with Chome, I get the following:

    Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error.

There’s lots of suggestions online for resetting Chrome but I get a blank page in all other browsers so I’m thinking this might be something to do with the Apache setup. Odd though as there are other EE sites running on the server and this same site was working fine until yesterday so I’ve no idea what might be causing it to break.

    For example this works:

    http://mydomainf.client-staging.co.uk/

    But these don’t:

    http://mydomain.client-staging.co.uk/thinking-roofing
    http://mydomain.client-staging.co.uk/projects/section/my-new-roof

Correction, I am now finding that one of the channel entries is still giving me the unauthorised access error. Is there anything else I can check other than caching?

OK I think I figured out the access error. If you click on an item to edit before the page has completed loading (and presumably some script has kicked in), you either get an access error or a blank entry form for a new entry. Is there some scripting in place to form the URL of the edit link?

    Hi Russ,

Yes, the edit entries table is generated after an AJAX call so I think that’s what you are seeing here. With regards to the blank page, can you please reduce the complexity of your template until the error goes away. That should indicate where the problem is. Are you using complex conditionals on this template?

    Cheers

    Greg
