I’ve just installed the Forum Module to EE2.1.3 and am struggling with teh setup process.
Here - http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/forum/forum_setup.html - it suggests “Under the Forum Management tab in the Forum Module there is a General Preferences link”

I can’t see this at all.
I go to Addons > Modules > Discussion Forum and get teh screen called Edit Forum Boards with Edit Forum Bards, Templates and Member Ranks button on the top right area. I haven’t created any forums yet so the page is otherwise pretty empty.

Am I missing something or are these docs out of date? How do I set up the default preferences and permissions?

Unfortunately, the documentation does need updating so I have submitted a bug report. The first thing to do is to click the ‘Add new forum board link’. Forum boards are described here. Once you’ve done that you can then add forum categories and individual forums for each category.
