“In order to use the encryption class requires that you set an encryption key in your config file.”

I have an SAEF form that gives this error to one user in Safari. I cannot reproduce it in IE or FireFox…

Any ideas what the error means and what the issue might be??

    thanks!!

Hi, dzr_rtw. Can you tell us which version/build of EE2.x you’re using? See EEWiki:// HowTo Determine My EE Version

    Hi dzr_rtw,

Can you please post your SAEF code? Have you got a link where we can see this form?

    Cheers

    Greg

    this is the form… http://filmathens.net/index.php/sprockets_music_videos/entry2011/anon

It’s using safecracker as recommended by EE (http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/entry_form.html)

    {exp:safecracker channel="_form" return="sprockets_music_videos/print/sp2011"
    form_class="myform" }

Hi, dzr_rtw. At what point do you get the error? Just loading the form works for me on Safari for the Mac.

It’s on submission. We just got word that someone is having this issue on a Mac PPC in Firefox.

That’s a big problem because it leaves them with no browser to fill the form out in.

Well, there is Chrome. 😊 On my MacMini on FireFox it works.. might they be behind a firewall?

Was there ever a resolution for this issue? I’ve been getting the following on Firefox 4 on Mac.

“In order to use the encryption class requires that you set an encryption key in your config file”

It was during the process of uploading a pdf file. I have v2.1.3.

    Hi upressplay,

In the control panel, go to Admin > System Administration > Config File Editor. Scroll down to $config[‘encryption_key’] and enter a strong encryption key. Recommended: Use an online password generator to generate a strong key.

    See if that helps

I am having this problem now. Setting a key does not help. It is in a safecracker form upon submission.

It only happens if I am not logged in. And it does so in all browsers.

Rasmus, the original thread was for the SAEF, which is different than SafeCracker. You didn’t mention which version of EE you’re working with and did you set up an anonymous user for SafeCracker?

If I were logged in, the first thing I would check are the settings for the anonymous user, and make sure I was on the most recent version of EE, which is 2.2.0.
