I am sure I’ve seen this on a few EE sites, sometimes when a page is loading I see a brief glimpse of a blank page bar top left corner which has a text field with 50 in it

I think this is EE . I recently have see it on here http://ampersandconf.com/ (tho I don’t know it’s EE)

And Im sure I have seen it on a site I recently made http://www.dave-gibbons.com

Any ideas on why or what it is ?
Maybe only from iPad not too sure.. Thought I’d post before more digging

I have never, ever seen anything like what you describe on any site, EE or otherwise.  I also don’t see it on the two URLs posted?  Perhaps is a browser add-on that you are running?

Ah right, iPad.  I honestly don’t know what that is.  I browse on my iPad all the time and haven’t seen it there either.  =/ it’s too bad you can’t view source on that screen, that’d be a big clue.

I’ve seen it a couple of times lately too on iPad and iPhone. Could be redirection code for mobile version of website.

I’ve seen this on lots and lots of sites (browsing by iPhone) and couldn’t work out what it was - I didn’t realise it was EE, but it makes sense that it would be.  I don’t have any redirection code on the affected sites either, though it does seem to be common when you’re using @media inside your stylesheets - possibly needs a bug report?

Adam, are you sure it is EE sites?  I browse a lot of EE sites on my iPad and haven’t seen it.  Of course, I haven’t seen it on any sites, so…..

Also, the Dave Gibbons site you wrote, is there any redirection/mod_rewrite/mobile detection on that?  I’ll visit it when I’ve got my iPad with me and see if I can see that.

No mobile redirection -  I cannot recall having seen it for sure on the site I did for Dave Gibbons but I can replicate it pretty easy on the http://ampersandconf.com/ (even in iOS simulator) site but I don’t know 100% if that is definitely EE - I have also tried to stop the page loading to se if I can grab some source code but its too quick/impossible

I don’t see it happening on that site in the emulator.  I’m not sure that is EE either, but there’s no way to tell, URLs could be, but could be anything really.  It would be best to reproduce this on a plain EE installation before posting as a bug.  Right now I don’t see any indications that this is an EE specific issue.

I’ve only seen this on EE sites. Specifically, a couple launches announced on Twitter lately that I viewed on iPhone/iPad.

Do you have some links, Anna? I’d love to see this for myself.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the sites… I think I remember the person that launched one of the site though. I sent her a message on Twitter. Will post the URL if she sends it.
