I’ll just come out and say that I’m very new in using expression engine, and beginning to be really frustrated. All I wanted is how to install themes from this site (http://eetemplates.com/templates) to my local machine. Looking for instructions on how to do this is very limited on the web. Most of the tutorials I see are for the old version. Which some of it is not longer applicable to the new version. Moreover, where is the Weblog Administration in EE2? Most of the tutorials I see online are from EE1.6.

Sorry for the rants, but I just want to know how to install a template ((http://eetemplates.com/templates) in EE2. That’s it. Can anyone help me out, please? 😊

Templates in EE actually need to be installed on the initial install of EE because each theme usually depends on certain channels and field groups to be setup. It gives you an option as your going through the setup. EE is not like wordpress which allows ONe click installs of new Templates. If your new, I would try reinstalling EE on a localhost with a them and then go through the code to see how its working and see how the channels and templates are setup.

Also, they are not free, but here are some good EE 2 resources for learning how things work.

(And weblogs are now channels in EE 2, so whenever you see weblog in EE 1 Documentation, just think channels. Channel admin is under Admin-> Channel Administration.

While the majority of tutorials I have on Train-ee were written for EE 1, you can just this page to help translate the code to EE 2 code.  It’s pretty straightforward.
