When I go into design -> Template Manager, I get an error,

    An Error Was Encountered

The name you submitted may only contain alpha-numeric characters, underscores, and dashes .cpd-form copy

Now, I don’t remember creating this, and we’ve only been live for about 2 months, had a third party create the site.  It may be a left over from them, but we didn’t part on the best terms.  If we can not involve them it would be better.

Anyhow, since I am quite new to this, edited content, and such, need to start looking at bigger picture things, but with this error in place, it’s a bit difficult to get an overview, so…

How do I delete a template that Expression Engine won’t show me?

    Hi, r.smith.

First things first - make a backup copy of your exp_templates table using PHPMyAdmin or something similar.

You’ll then need to manually edit the exp_templates template, and change the value of template_name that has the bad name.

If you don’t feel comfortable, you might want to contact someone from the Pro Network for assistance.

    Does that help?

I’ve got a nightly versioned backup of the entire database, so backups won’t be a problem.  I’ll have a nose around and see if I can find the template with the bad name and alter it that way.  I’ll report back when done.

Woo!  That’s done it, and looking at the date the file was modified, I’m not responsible for it.  Thanks for the pointers.

Yeah! Glad you were able to go in and fix it. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.
