    Hi there,

I’ve installed 2 sites using Multiple Site Manager. As I couldn’t find any detailed information about where to put the new index.php files, I tried my own way, and that seems to work:

I simply renamed my index.php files to something logical to me, and put them directly inside the root directory of my EE2-installation.

But, I would like to know what other alternatives there are, and what changes would need to be made to the index.php files, and perhaps the config file. How do other people do this?

And what are the pros on cons of the different ways?

If somebody could give me a couple of examples, I would be glad.

By the way, I am experiencing a problem with the 3rd party add-on NavEE, as the Add-on of today DOES support MSM, but doesn’t take into concideraton my way of putting the index files into the same directory.

    Hi Visualis,

There isn’t really one way that’s better than another because each host is different in the way that it handles addon or secondary domains. If what you’ve done works for you then that’s absolutely fine - I presume that you’ve got some .htaccess rules (or your control panel handles this) to point each domain to each file. Most often though, a host will define an addon or secondary domain to point to a different folder than the primary domain’s webroot. In those cases, just copying the index.php into those folders without renaming them works perfectly well. The changes that need to be made in those index.php files are exactly the same as you’ll have made to get your setup to work.

With regards to NavEE, unfortunately we can’t provide direct support for 3rd party addons so please contact the authors directly for help.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Greg
