Hello. I’m looking to build a simple paid classifieds website and am wondering if EE might be a good fit. Think Craigslist style, with some custom fields and photos. User would pay a one-time fee to create an entry and have the ability to edit/delete the entry as they please.

A quick Google search turned up the HCC Classifieds add-on for EE1, using Foxee. From what I gathered this seems to do what I’d need it to (pay per entry), but seems to be largely unsupported these days.

Wondering if something like this could be accomplished now with the Simple Commerce Module, or a different add-on like CartThrob or Brilliant Retail.

Please let me know what you think.

    Thanks.

Hi noobEE, and welcome to the forums.

This can certainly be done with SafeCracker (available for free, to allow submission of entries outside the control panel) and an e-commerce add-on (I suspect the Simple Commerce Module is too basic in this case).

More than likely you’ll need to experiment to get the smoothest checkout flow with the least number of steps, and that may include some custom coding or slight modifications. But overall, yes, EE definitely makes sense as a platform for this type of site.

Thanks for your interest and don’t hesitate with additional questions.

Thanks, Brandon. SafeCracker looks like a great first step. I think I’ll start testing the waters. =D
