    Hi,

I’ve installed latest Expression Engine version in Windows Server 2008 R2 (IIS 7.5).
Instalation was sucessful, but I notice that the page load time is slow.

I’m getting values like this one:
Script executed in 6.2566 seconds - 21 SQL queries used - Build:  20101220

My Mysql database is located in another server but in local LAN, getting ICMP responses:
    Reply from xx.xx.xx.xx: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
    Reply from xx.xx.xx.xx: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=128
    Reply from xx.xx.xx.xx: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

    Is this normal?

    Best Regards,

Welcome to the ExpressionEngine forums, LGarcia. Just a quick note to thank you for your purchase.

Since you’re new to the EE forums, have you seen EEWiki:// How to Post a Support Request?

When it comes to speed in accessing the EE control panel for the first time, you may be slowed down by the New Version check pinging expressionengine.com to see if there is a newer version.

See: HowTo Turn off New Version Checking

You might also want to check out: http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Server_Tuning_and_Capacity_EE/

While the information is for LAMP, some of this will also apply to Windows installs.

    Does that help?

    Hi,

This information is always helpfull, but this didn’t solve the problem.

The “turning off” of the New Version Checking, hasn’t solved my problem.
I tried several possible configurations on the EE Control Panel and found that with the “Persistent Database Connection” enabled, the queries reduced from:
    Example
Script executed in 6.2566 seconds - 21 SQL queries used - Build:  20101220
    to:
Script executed in 0.1396 seconds - 21 SQL queries used - Build:  20101220

But I noticed that on the EE installation it’s not recommended to enable the “Persistent Database Connection”.

Can you give me an hint on this?

Using persistent connections is considerable faster, are you on shared hosting? If you are, then it’s safer to not use Persistent database connections.
