In my blog “Channel” I have added a new “Custom Field” for uploading files. I have set the correct “File Upload Preferences” that points to the rite directory for uploading files.

When I try and upload a file, I receive this message in EE interface “The file could not be written to disk.”

    Hi, v3imaging.

What kind of file are you getting this error with?

I have checked folder write to permissions.

I’m trying to upload a PDF file.

    Thank you.

    Hi, v3imaging.

We’ve seen this happen when you are attempting to upload .pdf files, and oftentimes you can get around it by turning off XSS sanitation.

You can do this by doing the following:

In the control panel, go to: Admin / Security and Privacy / Security and Sessions

Then try setting the “Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files?” value to “No”.

    Does that help?

Unfortunately the “Apply XSS Filtering to uploaded files” didn’t work.

    Any other thoughts?

    v3imaging,

What version and build of EE are you using?
What type of server environment do you have?

What permissions did you give that upload folder?
What type of file are you trying to upload?
    What size is it?
In your file upload preferences can you confirm that you have a full server path in there and not just a relative url?
