I mean I deleted everything but database backups file.  I have no idea when I last did a backup.

You could probably get your forum posts back by doing the following.

Install EE1.7. You can download this version also from your download area on the accept terms page
This cannot be the EE2.x version you downloaded

After that is installed you would need the EE1.x version of the forum module to be installed.
Again not the EE2.x version of the module
Then you could import tables from your database for your forum specifically

After that you are free to upgrade to EE2.x of the Forum and your base EE install.

If this is something you are not comfortable with then I would recommend contacting somebody from our Pro Network who could help you with this.

Is there a cost to use Pro Network?

Hi, Preacher/Creative. Each member of the Pro team has their own rates, they’re considered independent entities.

How do I get quotes for the job?

  • #21 / Mar 21, 2011 8:06pm

Also, if I wanted to start from scratch (not worry about getting posts from past forums) how would I do that?

You would simply contact the Pro Net members directly with your job needs and request a quote.  Just like getting bids from other contractors.

If you want to just start from scratch, simply uninstall the forum and reinstall it.

I am a bit curious - do you happen to know if there was a file called anything similar in your system/modules folder?  That can cause a similar error.

To be clear, to uninstall the forum I just delete everything on the server and do an install?

No, don’t do that =) Are you currently able to get to the Modules page in your CP, Preacher?  Or not able to?

  • #25 / Mar 22, 2011 3:10pm

Right now I can’t login to CP. Or, i don’t know if I can.  I can login to forums.  What is the url for login for my control panel?

  • #26 / Mar 22, 2011 7:54pm

Is this the correct url for the control panel login?

Preacher/Creature, we don’t have any way of knowing where your control panel is located. By default it’s in the system folder, but that folder could have been renamed to anything else. If you look in your path.php file, you’ll find where it is located.

You’ll need to download that file from the root of your domain, and view it with a text editor.

    Does that help?

  • #28 / Mar 23, 2011 3:51pm

I went to my download page.  I do not have the option of loading a previous version (1.7)

    Please advise.
