Is it possible to allow php in entry fields in EE2? Some quick tests have the characters getting converted (ie. “>” to “& g t ;”)(I’ve spaced the converted character here so it won’t get converted back in this post). Anyway, I’ve tried using a textarea with formatting set to none and php enabled for the template.

Is this doable? I found an EE1 plug-in that enabled that functionality but I can’t find anything on how to do it in EE2.

What version and build of EE are you using?
You are correct in your assumption I believe and there is no EE2 version.

What are you trying to achieve? There is always another way of looking at things

Do you want functioning PHP or do you just want to use code examples?

We’re running 2.1.3. As to the PHP, we require functioning PHP. We haven’t vetted the client’s PHP too closely yet - we were just trying to ascertain whether this can be done or not. Generally though, the client wants to publish different online forms provided by different third parties they work with - and each form needs it’s own specific PHP page to post to (that’s the code - I don’t believe there is any in the original form docs but I’m not certain at this point).

That said, it seems there’s not a native way to deal with the PHP so we’d probably need to look at a plugin I guess. It seems the issue might just be resolving the character conversion…might there be something else beyond that which would stand in the way of this?

Hi, Coalescent - I’d tend to look at Solspace’s Freeform offering. Or even an iFrame might work for this.

Thanks Sue…freeform could be an option for the form portion. It’s the PHP post scripts we’re trying to figure out. We’ll look into the PHP in entry fields a bit more. If any devs know of any impediments to doing that (beyond the character conversion issues), I’d be curious to get a heads up.

We’ll keep exploring in the meantime.

Mike - Once you switch over to using Freeform, the data from Freeform is stored in its own table, which you can use EE to display the content of the table.

We may need to switch this over to the CodeShare Corner as we continue to brainstorm.
