    Hi,

I’ve got search to work on my site, but I would also like it to be able to show results when the channel name is searched on.

E.g., I have a channel for Events, but none of the entries actually have the word “events” in them, so when I search for the word “events” other entries come up but no events.

This seems weird as a user as you would expect the events to come up.

I could probably create a custom field which stores the channel name and make it searchable, but just wondering if anyone has other ideas?

    Hiya,

I might be completely misunderstanding what you’re after here (please feel free to slap me if I’m being silly 😉 ) but I’m not really seeing anything above which lets me know how the events differ. If you have a channel with lots of events in then what differentiates them that the search will be able to pick up on?

What exactly is in the events? You say none of them have the word events in them so what do they have that you can search upon?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Well the events would not necessarily have the word “events” in the description field which is what I’m searching on.
generally an event description would be something to describe the event e.g., “Every Friday night, young people from all across Sydney come together to ...”

So at the moment when searching for events the “Events” listing page does not come up as one of the results. So basically I need to have all our pages/urls be included in the search results, despite nothing on that page has the word events, except for the page title (which is in the template).

The site actually just went live recently (my first EE website), but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post it here…

    Hi, bikuta.

It doesn’t sound like you need a search form, but instead a way of displaying upcoming events - is that correct?
