    I am using EE 1.7

Is it possible to assign members to certain upload destination folders on my web server?

I am wanting to have members only upload photos to their own designated folder for myself (the admin) to be able to then download those photos.  Similar to a ftp setup within EE.

Have a limited amount of ftp users on my hosting and my members will exceed that.

    Thanks

I don’t know of a way to do specifically what you are asking. But you could use a SAEF, and then use it to publish a page that’s visible only to the author and administrators. That page could then contain the links to the photos, thumbnails, etc. Could that work?

This would create a new entry correct?

Correct, but you could put them in a new weblog/channel that is only visible to you, or to you and the author. It doesn’t have to show up on your site for ordinary visitors.

    Hi Bell Design,

As cafenoir said, there isn’t any built-in way to do this. I’ll move this thread to the CodeShare Corner.

    Cheers

Cafenoirs suggestion of using saef for the site might be a bit much for the number of members I am going to have for this site.

Is there a way to allow certain members to use the built-in EE uploader to upload files?

If you are using a dedicated file fieldtype then you could create membergroup-specific publish page layouts, one with the file field visible and one without.
