So I created a new weblog that holds posts until I want to use them on the site. I expected to be able to go into the Options tab on the publish area, and change the Weblog dropdown from the new weblog to the old one to bring it over. According to the EE docs, the only requirement to be able to do this is that they share the same groups, and that this can only be done when editing an entry, not when creating:

“This option is only available when editing an entry.

This drop-down list will contain all weblogs that share the same Field Group, Category Group, and Status Group with the current weblog for the entry. Using this option, you can move an entry from one weblog to another weblog that is set up similarly.”

I’ve confirmed that the two weblogs do share the same Field, Category, and Status group. Yet, when I go into an entry in the new weblog to edit it and clean up the post to bring it over to the other weblog, the other weblog does not appear in the dropdown, despite sharing those same fields.

I’m attaching screenshots of the group preferences of the two weblogs, showing that they share the same groups.

What version and build are you using? Are you doing this as a Superadmin? Don’t forget your user also needs permission to post in both weblogs.

Hi, Andru. What about third party add-ons? Is this a new issue, or has it been a problem for a while?

This is the first time I have ever needed to move posts from one weblog to another, so I am unsure how long the problem has existed. I have 12 weblogs in this particular MSM site, 4 of which share the same field, category, and status groups. I *AM* able to move it from the new one into the other 2 of 3 that meet the requirement, but the one that isn’t showing up is the essential one that I need. Would a third party add-on block me from moving to only one out of 4 capable weblogs that I should be able to move to you think?

    Hi Andru,

It’s possible. What is different between the one weblog that you can’t move the entry to and the two others that you can? Were they all created at about the same time?

    Cheers

Also you mentioned it might be a 3rd party add-on at play here. Might be good to list all the add-ons you have installed. Might help a bit.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Nothing different as far as setup of the weblogs. They are all similar except for:

    1) Their names
    2) The posted content within those weblogs

As far as preferences and fields, they are all the same. However no, they were not all created at the same time. The weblog that I want to transfer TO was the first weblog created back in EE 1.2. Since then, 6 or 7 years has gone by, we use the MSM now, etc.

One other oddity that I just noticed. When I am editing a post that exists in the main weblog, I CANNOT change the weblog of those entries to ANY of the others. The other three that share and meet the requirements listed in the EE docs was transfer between themselves, but this one seems to be separated, despite also meeting the requirements.

As for third part add-ons, I really do use too many to list. Probably around 50 or so. Any that I should particularly look at, or should I just name them all?

All would be great. Even screenshots of your extensions and modules page so we can scan them for possible culprits
