Consistently slow CP

Page loads in the CP are usually around 3 seconds. The best I ever get is around 2.2, and it frequently takes 4-5 seconds. Tonight, after installing Low Variables, it wouldn’t load pages even in minutes - I had to switch between browsers and re-log in to be able to get around the CP at all. I’ve disabled that add-on for now.

    Some important points:

    - Usually queries the db 40-50 times
    - Example benchmark:
    Loading Time: Base Classes     0.0483
    Total Execution Time     2.6205
Controller Execution Time ( Addons Modules / Show Module Cp )    2.5726
    - Memory usage: 7,993,532 bytes (it’s usually between 7-8)
    - I’ve turned off version check and HTTP headers
    - I have quite a few add-ons, but I can’t remember the CP ever being faster than it is now.
    - I’m constantly getting loads of warnings in the error console (most seem to be related to css and js)
    - I’m on a shared host
    - The front end doesn’t seem to be plagued by the same slow load times

    Any idea?

That doesn’t sound much out of the ordinary, to be honest, depending on your server and setup. How many entries do you have? What version and build of EE are you using?

I’m on version 2.1.1, build 20101020. Using Structure with 20-25 channels, perhaps 50 or so entries. It’s not insanely slow, but slow enough that development takes a lot longer than it otherwise would. And any idea where all those warnings are coming from?

Hi, Haarball. Have you considered upgrading to 2.1.3? I don’t use Structure, but the errors are coming from some sort of javascript.

An update would refresh your files, and might help.

This was caused by NSM add-on updater. I chose to only display it on the front page, and everything’s a least twice as fast now.
