    Hi all:

As I am in the process of rolling out my first MM site, I was curious to how some of you who are consultants are selling it, especially vs. EE.  I am working on content around my CMS offering (primarily EE) and wanted to work in MM as well.

    Any feedback is welcome!

    Hey Mike,

The feature set of MojoMotor versus EE is vastly different, as I’m sure you know.  I guess that the biggest thing that I look at when evaluating whether to use Mojo or EE is what the requirements of the site are.  If it needs anything more than the basic, static pages, then I go with EE.  But, if the client is fairly novice and the site doesn’t require a lot of bells and whistles, then Mojo.

For example, here is a site I did in MojoMotor that was pretty basic.  It really worked nice for what we needed though. - http://www.pinelinelabs.com

    Hi Jesse:

Thanks for your input!  I agree on the feature sets, and will not pit one against the other, rather finding the best solution to meet the client needs.

Long time EE fan here…I can’t help but wonder what is the point of MM if we are talking about a few static pages anyhow? Why add php/mysql overhead to serve a few bits of html?
I can not seem to find a good way of presenting the ‘editable page’ concept other than showing it as some shape of ‘micro blogging’. But then again, knowing that EE is there why bother with micro…I outgrew MM the moment I wanted captcha and form validation - what is the point of contact form that does not deter from spammers.

So, what kind of sites and clients have people built with MM that made a difference?

Nice going Jesse, now I want a dog 😊

Cash is king - if you have a static site with just content that a client needs to edit easily, $50 is a much easier sell than $150-$300.

If you want form validation/captcha we have a form plugin for MM called Formojo:

I don’t think MM is even really suitable for microbloggin - MM doesn’t really handle repeating content well unless you are using something like MojoBlog. If you need a simple, page-driven site, MM seems hard to beat for the price.

    Thanks Adam,
    Nice plugin, thanks.
I guess I have not run into 4-5 page project that needs ‘editing’. On the other hand I run into ‘want a 3-4 page site with blog-like content stream’. Just looking to get rid of WP for those on ‘artist budget’.
Sometimes I even consider picking up CI…but knowing that EE is there why bother 😉

However, MM is super cool and I like what I see…I might get it just for my own playtime and arsenal.

Yeah with EE if you aren’t into custom PHP development I’d say no need to bother with CI. I hear you on the 3-4 page site with a blog content stream. I think MojoBlog 2 is pretty cool from what I hear - MM base + MojoBlog might be a pretty nice alternative to WP.
