    Hi,

I have a custom date field to display my event dates, each entry is saved as “Fixed”. My understanding is that the time shown in the CP is what every user will see, is that correct?

If so, how is it that the dates are being rendered 1 hour later than what I have in the CP?

Never mind, I just found out that it’s because I had DST turned on.
But while on the subject of dates, is it possible to have DST automatically turn on/off?
I’m pretty sure PHP is able to do this, so maybe a future update?

What version and build of EE are you using? There were some significant changes recently to the way dates in general and the DST in particular are handled by EE.

Hi, bikuta. DST differs depending on where you are located. See this WikiPedia article. As well as:

    WikiPedia:// DST Around the World.

As Ingmar mentioned, there are a number of fixes in place for EE 2.1.4, which is in beta now.

See: Bug Tracker: Fixed in Beta

    Does that help?

Yes DST will not be the same for everyone and the rules can change, so how do EE sites deal with this usually? Is it just a matter of manually updating it when the time comes?

I would of thought that if the custom date field is set to “Fixed” then it shouldn’t matter if DST is on or off. It should always show that exact date and time, is that how it should work?

Preliminary testing on EE2.1.4 beta still shows the date/time moving around when you change to and from DST.

Ideally, I don’t have a need for real time precision, let me go ask the dev folks about what is really supposed to happen.

Thanks in advance for your patience.
