    Using ExpressionEngine Version 2.1.3 Build 20101220 running online.
    My work system is winXP - No problem seen with IE8, Opera, Chrome, Safari

    With Firefox, can log into front end of the website but not the control panel.
    When I try to login… no error message… just returns to login screen.

    This is in my config file:

    $config['cookie_domain'] = ".my_domain.com";
    $config['cookie_path'] = "";
    $config['cookie_prefix'] = "";
    $config['admin_session_type'] = "c";
    $config['user_session_type'] = "c";
    $config['require_ip_for_login'] = "n";
    $config['require_ip_for_posting'] = "n";
    $config['secure_forms'] = "n";
    $config['multiple_sites_enabled'] = "y";
    $config['allow_extensions'] = "y";

    I bet it’s something silly

    Peccavio,

    That’s an odd one. Can you confirm that you are trying to log into correct URL? As in you may have a www in the URL you installed at but are trying to login a URL without the www

    I am certain the url is correct. I never write my url with www.
    My site uses .htaccess to redirects http://www.domain to domain

    My prior description is slightly flawed…
    Loggin goes to “you are logged in page”,
    but when redirects, you’re not logged in

    So my problem simply stated, can’t login with Firefox.
    Any suggestion on how to approach trouble shooting?

    Thanks in advance for any good suggestion.

    Peccavio,

    In your original description you say you can login to front-end in Firefox.
    If you are a superadmin this will have also logged you into the control panel

    My prior description is slightly flawed…
    Loggin goes to “you are logged in page”,
    but when redirects, you’re not logged in

    Those types of messages don’t exist in the control panel logging in and out process. Can you show us some screeshots please?

    This is where I was mistaken ... frontend same as backend.

    Those types of messages don’t exist in the control panel logging in and out process.

    The normal redirect page at login that says “You are now logged in”
    It appears for about one sec… do I need to catch a screen shot?

    The important thing to notice is I’m not logged in when returning to the home page.

    Peccavio,

    Can I register on your site as a normal member? Have you got a link where we can try it?

    Peccavio,

    I have no issues logging in on FireFox.

    Are you logged into the control panel at the same time you are trying to log into the front end?

    Log out of control panel and clear all your browser cache and cookies for that site and try again

    Hmm that was weird…
    I was logged in to control panel with IE
    Didn’t think that should affect Firefox

    all is working again… thanks
