I’m having trouble with a third-party plugin that I use all the time (if you are familiar with it, would LOVE some assistance here: http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/181301/). But that’s not what this thread is concerning. Rather, when I go to Add-Ons > Plugins I see a screen like this:
    http://cl.ly/1Z0X2e12360t242O3M1i

Whereas on other installations I see a screen like this:
    http://cl.ly/3v2U1C2a3f3g0S130F2Q

Wondering why the remove option isn’t available in the install I am having trouble with? Do plugins need to be “enabled” somewhere? Using super admin account on both installs.

    Thank you!

Is the plugins folder writeable (check permissions via FTP).

I know that in 1.7.x that you needed the plugins folder to be writeable in order to download plugins directly to it and also to delete them. Might be something as simple as that?

    Best wishes,

Thanks, Mark. Does that make sense? What happens when you simply remove the files from the server manually (i.e. via FTP?)

Mark—You were correct sir, Plugins directory was set to 755, not 777. The switch got the checkboxes and remove option to show up straightaway.

Ingmar, feel free to close the thread—and thank you too.

    Cheers,
    Ryan
