    Hi Guys!

I’m having a problem uploading files using EE 1.6.9

In Publish I click on Upload File and then select an image, after that when I click on “Upload” button, EE shows a message which is:

    Error
An error of an unknown type was encountered.

    « BACK

This is the first time that happens, until today it worked perfect. FYI I’m not using plugins or third-party add-ons.

    Please help!

    thanks!

Did this just happen once or is it recurring? Is it happening with a particular file-type or file-size?

    Hi John,

This is the first time it happens… it happens with all kind of files, different sizes, I’ve tried to create another folder, I’ve tried changing admin settings… and the message appears again…

The most weird thing is that yesterday night I’ve logged off and Logged in again and it worked… but today it isn’t working again… I’ve noticed this time that the files actually are uploading completly (I see the progress %) but when finish to upload it shows me the message again.

Could it be a host issue?  I mean I’ve try to get an Error number like I saw in another post but I couldn’t. Maybe is a tmp dir problem? I’m using PHP 5.2.6…

    Thanks for your help!

I guess you’ve tried everything in this article? They’ve usually been the problem for me before, or you could try turning off XSS filtering in Admin> System prefs > Security and Session prefs.

Other than that I guess it could be some PHP problem you’ll have to resolve with your host, you’ll see some similar problems in posts like this one which may be helpful to walk through.

If you have access to your server logs, that’ll probably have a PHP error which will give the best indication of where the problem lies.

No problem - glad you got it sorted. Those problems can be a nightmare to track down!
