    Greetings,

I have a client who wants to sell gift certificates that they would mail out from their business. So I’m looking for advice on credit card processing.

On one site, I use CCNow, which seems to work really fine. It’s easy to set up and isn’t expensive. But I’m wondering what other options people use these days? I tried setting up PayPal for one site, but I’m finding it awfully complicated and confusing for some reason.

    Any thoughts?

depends… on lots and lots of questions.
What country are you in as rules will change depending upon this.
What bank do they use? Does that bank offer a payment gateway, what are their costs for doing so?
Does the client want to setup their own internet merchant account with the bank?
Does the client want to be able to process cards off line over the phone?
What level of PCI DSS does you client want to adhere to (location dependent i believe).

In the end, you run out of options and choose what you have left!

They’re in the US and most likely most business (which will be small) will be in the US.

Basically I’m looking for the easiest-to-implement solution that’s not expensive. There won’t be that much business (just selling gift certificates through the website), so I’m really just looking for the least time-consuming and least complex solution.
