This question may be related to a resolved thread.

    Hi all

I have implemented a site using the username field in registration, which the policy is to have as the email address of the user. Therefore have now run aground with the issue that a maximum of 32 chars can be entered.

I imagine I can cahnge the input maxlength easily enough but any pointers on where to change the core files (I presume the user validation model somewhere in the core?) .

    cheers

I have found mod.member_register.php and then a un_min_len, but a global search for un_max_len is turning up blank :(

Anyone can use the register form, so it cannot be a backend control panel solution unfortunately.

    cheers

I am afraid there is no supported way to increase the user length of member names. If you want to hack EE, as it were, let me know and I can move this thread to the CodeShare Corner for some additional community support. Alternatively, Solspace’s User module supports this out of the box, I think.
