Hi, and thanks for any help you can offer.

I’m having an issue where I can view the images in the control panel, such as the submit button, backgrounds for the Publish drop down and other default theme images. Unfortunately my client cannot see these images when logged into the control panel. They can also not see third party themes and functionality for extensions like Playa.

I’m baffled by this. At first I thought they didn’t have Images enabled on their browser or that they had java disabled. It was the only way that I could replicate the issue. I had them check and walked through it with them to ensure their browser settings were handled properly and they were…still no luck.

Is it possible that they have some other setting or firewall setting that is not allowing images/java from some or all sites? I cannot for the life of me understand why using the same browsers and operating systems I can see everything and they can see nothing.

Again, any help you can offer would be great. I’ve searched the threads I can’t find anything similar where users in one place can see the images/functionality, but users in another setting cannot.

    Thank you,

    Greg

    Greg,

Has the site ever existed on another domain or “locally” while you were in development? The first thing I would suggest is to check the Themes path in the system.

This happened to me once when I had the Themes path set to an address that my client couldn’t see but I could and the files existed in multiple environments. Just a thought. 😊

    Hi crossborders,

As Erik says, can you please check that the theme paths are correct? Also, please check that you don’t have any mod_rewrite rules based upon your IP or your client’s IP address.

    Cheers

    Greg

    @Erik, thanks for helping out.

Thank you Erik and Greg. I checked into the theme path and it seems like everything is set up properly. It is in a dev directory, but it hasn’t been moved since setup as we gear toward launch. I also looked at the .htaccess file and I cleared it out completely and tried that with the client, however that didn’t work either.

The odd part is that they were able to view things properly when they got home and tried it on their MAC in Safari. So it is just and issue occurring in their office. I’m going to try to speak to their external IT group to see if there is something setup for them that might be blocking those images/java. I can’t imagine what it would be. They are a financial company so perhaps there is something going on with their setup with tighter restrictions. It’s beyond me what it could be and frustrating because I know they can see it outside of the office.

I’ll keep trying and see what I can find and post back if I do find anything. If there’s anything else you think I could try I’d be all ears.

    Best Regards,

    Greg

If they can see things outside of their office, it really does sound like some kind of firewall. Hopefully you’ll be able to get an answer from their IT group.
