We’ve just upgraded to EE 1.7.0 and Discussion Forum Module 2.2.0.

After the upgrade, our forum reply notification email have the following text included in the message. This text appears right before the message content.

    cription_Notification
X-Sender: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
    X-Mailer: ExpressionEngine 1.7.0
    X-Priority: 3 (Normal)
    Message-ID: <[email protected]>
    Mime-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-2
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

    How could we remove this?

    Thank you!

When you say “header”, do you actually mean the body, i.e. does that content show, or is it really only the mail headers?

You are correct. Sorry. I corrected the topic title.

After further investigation it seems that if the email subject is a bit longer (over ~38 or so characters), the subject gets truncated and included in the message body with the additional content (as posted above).

Also, I noted that spaces in the message subject are turned into underscores (if that is any help at all).

We haven’t had this type of problem before. It only appeared after we updated our system to 1.7.0.
This happens with all the messages in the “email notification templates” (including forum post replies, etc.).

    Hi Dombi,

Are you running any third party extensions?  If so could you please let us know which ones?
Also, what version were you upgrading from?

    Best regards,
    Barry

It seems that all the email messages sent by the system are affected. The “spaces” are always converted into “underscores” in the message Subject field. What could doing this?

    dombi,

This is a known bug. Robin supplies a fix here for you until the next release.

Let us know if that works for you

Hi John, thank you for the link. That is exactly what is happening on our site as well.

I applied the temp fix. I will have to see what happens when the next messages come through, but from what I saw in that post, this temp fix will probably work.

    Thank you again!

We’re seeing this issue as well on an updated 1.7.0 install.  We had the subject underscores issue, which we fixed with Robyn’s patch the other day, then found the header info in a different message sent today.  Shortening the title fixed that problem.  Of course, we don’t want to shorten the titles, so if there is a patch for this, we’d love to see it.

Hi, Chad. I don’t see a bug listed for this particular problem. How many characters are you attempting to use in the title?

    The original entry title was

DOL’s Wage & Hour Enforcement Budget Bucks the Trend

    and by making it

DOL’s Wage & Hour Enforcement Budget Bucks the

the extra data was not injected into the body.

    Hi Chad,

Can you clarify, is this only for forum notifications or for all emails sent from EE? If it is forum-only which forum version do you have installed?

    Cheers

    Greg

Hi Greg - no forums on this site.  This is a custom extension that leverages the mail function.  Has been working great for 2 years on 1.6.X and the upgrade to 1.7.0 give us the underscores in the subject bug (fixed via Robyn) and this.

Hi, Chad. I just used your subject line and got the following when using Communicate (fastest way to test.)

I haven’t applied the fix to 1.7.0. But the whole subject line went in.
