Hi guys, i’ve posted about this a couple of times before but with no result…

I’m still trying to install EE with no luck, when i change the system folder name to something else and point my browser to http://www.website/system , i get no where it just comes up with ‘NOT FOUND, The requested URL /system was not found on this server.’

My server meets all the requirements according to the ee wizzard, so i really don’t know whats going on.

any help would be very much appreciated (except links to: http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/installation.html)

    Cheers,
    Immanuel.

Did you mean point your browser to http://mysite/system or http://mysite/changedfoldername ?

Can you leave everything default and get an install (ie. worry about changing folders afterwards) ?

    Thanks for the assist, Cheif.

Immanuel - as Cheif mentioned, keep it as generic as possible. Don’t try to do anything other than the default ways of installing.

How is what you’re trying to do different? Who are you hosted with?

Hi thanks for the fast replies!
I’m hosted using Virtualmin, i’ve never used this before but it’s what my clients have chosen… it uses Apache and is compatible according to the EE server test.

I’ve just left the files unchanged now and still getting no result, although i did get it running onces before just using the default ‘system’ name but ended up deleting everything because a few of the image links in the template where broken and i wanted to have the minimal security of changing the system folder name.

oh yea i’ve cleared my browser cache etc multiple times and also uploaded the files to the server again with no results…

SO it was working once, you subsequently deleted it and on re-up’d everything again it now doesnt work ?

Did you drop the database ?
You did “re-up’d” it all with all default settings ?
You did step through all the settings to set proper permissions http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/installation.html?
Once “up’d” you pointed your browser to http://mysite.com/system/ ?
    Does Wizard work ?

Finally, what (if any) messages are you getting on screen ?

Yes i dropped the database and created a new one
uploaded everything default (i’m using Transmit which sets all permissions of every file and folder to 777 default)
Went in to the config.php and database.php files and changed permissions to 666
Pointed my browser in the right direction and now get the message: Oops! This link appears to be broken. :S

    any ideas?
