I created a new category group and would like to associate it with a new weblog, but when I go into the weblog groups it is not available.

I would appreciate some help getting that resolved.

    Thanks.

    Forrest Anderson,

What version and build of EE are you using?
    Are you using any extensions?
Have you added any categories to the new category group yet? If not can you test with a one.
Are you testing as a SuperAdmin?

    Hi, Forrest,

Can you take a screenshot of your weblog group manager, with the category drop-down expanded?

That’s in Admin > Weblog Administration > Weblog Management > Edit Groups for that weblog.

If you still aren’t seeing your new group there, you may need to test with extensions disabled temporarily and see if that helps.

    Thank you!

    Hi Lisa,

I have attached two screen shots: one showing the existing Category Groups and the other one showing which category groups are available within the Weblog Group Management window.

I will try with all extensions disabled and get the same results.

I look forward to your response.

    Thank you.

You mentioned Category Checkboxes - I used that before in EE 1.6.x..

Can you try something for me..

Create a new template group while you have your extensions disabled - does *that* one show?

I just created two new category Groups and neither one of them show up either. I checked under other weblogs to see if they show up there and it doesn’t work for either one.

Hi, Forrest. Was this a brand new EE 1.7 install?

Hi Sue, this was an upgrade from an earlier version.

    Hi Forrest,

Can you confirm that you have disabled all extensions by clicking the green button at the top right of the Extensions Manager? With all extensions disabled can you please create another new category group. Can that one be applied to weblogs? Can you also please go to Utilities > SQL Manager and then Manage Database Tables. Click browse next to exp_category_groups, take a screenshot of the output and post it here?

    Cheers

    Greg

    Hi Greg,

I am very sorry that it has taken me this long to circle around to respond to this question. Needless to say, I got pulled off of this task.

I hit the green button, disabling all extensions and created two new category groups with categories in them. They both show up in the SQL Manger Manage Database tables, but they do now show up in the list of category groups that I can associate with a weblog.

What do you suggest for the next step?

    Thanks.

Details sent. Please let me know if you have any questions. The Category group in question is Pricing. Thanks for your help.

First thing I noticed - you have four bogus category rows.

See the attached screen shot for the first two. They’ll need to be deleted by hand in two places.

Do you have a good backup?

    Hi Sue,

I have removed them. Pricing still does not show in the available category groups. I look forward to your next step.

    Thanks,

    Forrest
