Someone tried to post a comment, but got this error message. He did input the correct captcha letters.

I tried commenting and it seems sometimes it goes through, and other times I get the same error message, even though I’ve placed the correct captcha code.

Here’s a link to the post. Maybe you can test the comment for me.

    Thanks for your help.

What version and build of EE are you using, are there any extensions? Just posted a comment (feel free to delete) without any problems.

    1.7.0 build 20101018

Extensions: I’m not sure what these are. I do use low nospam, which is module. Is this an extension?

    Thanks for posting.

I looked in the extensions folder: in addition to low nospam, there is this: extensions/ext.advanced_captcha.php

    soulartist,

ext.advanced_captcha.php is an extension which gives you the nice coloured captcha as opposed to the brown default.

I also left a comment without issue.

Are you logged out of control panel when you are testing your comments?

    Hi John:

I’m not in the control panel; and I posted a comment when logged out as well to see the captcha code.

I tried commenting on this post a minute ago, and it went through.

So, I don’t know what caused the glitch—which may have gone away for some reason.

Also, isn’t there a way to have the captcha code refresh with a button if the code isn’t clear to the user?

    Thanks again.

So this looks like an intermittent issue, then.

No, but you can simply reload the page.

    Unfortunately, yes.

Yes. Maybe this could be a feature request.

I downloaded the Accessible Captcha extension.

So, do I simply add this to my extension folder?

Do I have to remove or disable anything to make this work?

    Thanks.

Yes after placing the extension file in your /system/extensions/ folder you then reload the Extensions Manager the extension will automatically be available for you to enable.

There is also a language file which you need to add to /system/language/

Disable the advanced one if enabled

    Hello:

    Back to my original post:

The person who first reported the issue sent me this note:

i think the glitch is only if name or email is left out on 1st attempt, so the program sends us back to enter the required item, without changing the code word.
if name and email are put in correctly 1st time around, then of course it works.  I think it is the lack of putting up a new code word which makes the glitch.

So, is the an issue with ee?

Yes. That worked, but now there is the legacy wording.

Is there a way to remove the ‘please enter the word . . .”
