We have been working to transfer the new website to a new server with a new domain. We copied over all the files and databases and did a find and replace on the database for all of the url info. Everything works fine except that on some of our other sites using the MSM are not pulling theme information: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0fe6tf16f. It pull the theme for the main site but none of the other sites. Anyone know where to start with this issue. We are kind of lost at this point.

    Hi, LCBC Church.

A global search and replace sounds like it’s the problem here.

What’s the path to the control panel look like CSS wise? Is there a reason you used a specific theme for each MSM site?

Thanks for the reply, but we ended up figuring out what the problem was. Turns out that it was because the global variable’s weren’t assigned for each site in MSM.

I don’t know how deeply tied in you are with the EE team, but lately I’ve been really disappointed in the amount of time it takes to get an answer on the forums. That is one of the things that I use to LOVE about EE 1.x, is that usually I could get an answer same day, or possibly within the hour. Lately it seems like the turnaround is 24-72 hours if at all. I recently upgraded to 2.0 but if things keep going the way they are with support on EE, this may cause me to look elsewhere in the future. I know it’s not your fault, so don’t think I’m reming you, I just want to express my opinion here and maybe you can pass it up to the head muck-ity-mucks.

    LCBC Church,

Glad you found the cause of the issue.

Support requests are answered in the order that they are received. Our goal is to have a first response to all threads within one business day of posting time.

If however you bumped a post this will move you to the bottom of the queue.

Can you supply the URL for your thread that took 72hours to answer. This should never happen.

Lately the forums have been very busy and we are currently looking for extra support staff so apologies on that front.

If you wish to discuss this further you are welcome to send and email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Here is one thread in particular that is from November 30th and still hasn’t been answered.

Now I will give you that the majority of my questions have been responded to within 24 hours. But for customers like yours, freelancers, web designers and server specialists, this is really far too late. What you’re forcing us to do is to post as soon as we think there may be a problem because we know it takes a long time to get an answer here. Then after we post, we bang our heads against the wall for 3-4 hours and then decide to wait for an answer. After we get an answer it then may be another 24 hours till we get a followup to our response. There just isn’t that kind of time to sit on a problem like this in the web design world. I can understand not having phone support, but with no phone support your forums need to be really robust.

When expression engine first came out and we were still on version one, the forums were AMAZING and honestly what caused me to try out EE. But since then they have been on a slow and drawn out decline. I have several accounts with you, under different Screen Names and have purchased quite a few licensees. So I believe in the software but I hope I can start to see a change in the support. Don’t hear me complaining here, hear me wanting to improve the EE support experience because that’s what I think made EE so great.

Here is one thread in particular that is from November 30th and still hasn’t been answered.

That thread is in the CodeShare Corner which is not officially monitored. All Tech Support is handled in the, well, Tech Suppot forums.

My argument still stands. I wish Expression Engine would hear my problems instead of fighting them to the core. The bottom line is the support is lacking and unless I ruffle feathers like today, I don’t get responses for at least 24 hours, not acceptable in my mind and most web developer minds with real deadlines and clients to keep in tune with. Just take my opinion and make EE better, which is after all what we all want ... right?

    Hi LCBC Church,

Thank you for your feedback. I’m going to go ahead and close this thread now since the support issue is resolved but I will make sure that your concerns and comments are passed to the rest of the team.

    Cheers

    Greg
