Hi Emily, is the 2.1.4 beta an option for you? It has a number of fixes not in 2.1.3.

Hi Brandon,
Although the site is a client site and it is live, it is small/managable enough that I thought I could risk trying out the beta version. I’ve updated now and tested the file upload in the Edit entry form and it is still uploading images with different permissions. I’m using the default file field type and I’ve tried it with and without Matrix and in both cases, I uploaded 3 images at the same time and 2 came out with different permissions to the other image.

Hey Emily, I bumped that bug to a Major. The workaround you mentioned before, uploading images via the File Manager, should work now with confirmation and all (in 2.1.4+). Hopefully that should get you by while we look at this further. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks Brandon. I wrote some detailed instructions for my client on how to add images via the File manager and then select them in the Edit form, which they were very grateful for, but they told me they found it so complicated that they preferred to upload via the Edit form and then ask their in-house IT guy to change the permissions on the broken images for them via FTP!! 🐛 Well there is a lesson in user experience and UI design for us all! Although I should add that this was still on 2.1.3 (I see that in the 2.1.4 File Manager is a vast improvement in terms of simplifiying the process and showing confirmation etc) it seems that for a not-very-computer-literate client, just having to go to a different place to upload images (and then selecting them on the edit form) was too much. Anyway, you can be reassured that both myself and the client are waiting patiently for a fix on this.

Definitely, the latest 2.1.4 should be an improvement. And we’re looking at that bug - thanks for your patience!

Alright, this *should* be fixed in the next release (2.1.4+). We were not explicitly setting file permissions in some cases. If it’s still an issue in the next release, please open a new thread. Thanks all!
